Guts Frisbee in Taipai - 2007/01/10 06:58
Greetings from the U.S.A. in Frisbee friendship.
I would like to ask whether there is interest within the Taipei Frisbee community in the sport of Guts Frisbee. As you may know, Guts is the oldest Frisbee sport to be played in organized and international tournaments. My team, the Air Aces, was two-times champion in the middle 1970s.
Much time has now passed and many other Frisbee sports (Ultimate, Golf, Freestyle...) have become very popular. However, we believe that the grandfather of all Frisbee sports deserves its honor. The 50th annual International Frisbee Tournament (IFT 50) will take place in Hancock, Michigan in the U.S.A. in the summer of 2007. In the past, many foreign teams have competed. Teams from Japan, Taiwan, Finland, Germany, Canada, the UK and others have fought for the Guts Frisbee crown.
The situation today is that a Japanese team is now the World Champion in Guts Frisbee. My team, the Air Aces Guts Frisbee Team, will get together once again for the 50th IFT. We will produce two teams to battle for our honor and the and the honor of the oldest Frisbee Sport. However, we want to expand the world of Guts Frisbee. To this purpose, we propose to invite a team from Taipei. This has several purposes:
1) We wish to expand the number of countries and players in Guts Frisbee
2) We wish to increase international participation
3) We wish to develop the interest in Guts Frisbee in other Asian countries besides Japan
Please let me know if the Taipei Ultimate community, any colleges in Taipei , Taipei Frisbee enthusiasts, or any individual players would be interested in playing in the 50th annual IFT, the oldest organized Frisbee competition in the world.
